Trusting in God

"...and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20

This morning we have begun our Vacation Bible School week at Trinity Church. The program is entitled, "Seaside Celebration" focusing on five promises of God. Monday's theme is, "God's Promise: I am with you." WOW! What a promise! As a matter of fact, Matthew records this as the last thing Jesus said to the crowd of people who watched Him visibly ascend into heaven following his crucifixion and bodily resurrection from the dead on earth.

It's difficult to trust folks sometimes, isn't it? People, even family members, may have the best of intentions, but not follow through on their promises. The neat thing is that God always keeps his promises, and one of the greatest and most satisfying promises of all is His promise in Christ and through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, to be with his children always at all times and through all circumstances.

The VBS kids are going to study the faith of the three Hebrew boys of old who were thrown into King Nebuchadnazzer's fire as recorded in Daniel, Chapter Three. Check it out. God's presence is awesome! Remember, He loves you, He created you, and He understands you current struggles and needs. Put your faith today in the One who has promised to always be with you.

In Christ we stand,

God Cares for You

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper tim

Last time I mentioned that we were underway with our five-day Vacation Bible School at Trinity Church entitled, "Adventures on Promise Island: Where Kids Discover God's Live-Saving love." Monday's promise was: "I (God) am with you." Tuesday's theme, and my entry for today is, "God cares about you."

Have you ever wondered how God, the creator of the Universe, could possibly have time to care about you? Well, the Good News of the Bible is that God does care about you, yes you! As a matter of Biblical fact, God cares so much about you, that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die a cruel death on a rugged Roman cross, so that you could be made right with him and be given eternal life. And the marvelous truth is, that Jesus would have been born, lived, and died for you, had you been the only person on the planet. Wow! That's God's amazing love in action!

But Christian, let's take it a step further. We all have times, when the anxieties of this world attempt to overtake us - to crush us beneath a heavy load! Therefore God inspired the apostle Peter to encourage us to cast off our pride and surrender daily "under the mighty hand of God so that He could raise us up at His proper time and set us free from the ever-increasing weight of anxiety so that we can have a deeper relationship with God and serve Him effectively in His kingdom as children of God.

And how does this happen? Peter adds, by daily throwing off ALL of your anxiety onto Him. God is God of the fresh new start! Imagine a day of not having to carry the load yourself. Of truly rejoicing each day as God intends it to be even when, like little Alexander of the famous children's book, you're having a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day! Yes, even days like that you can pray, "God thank you that you care about me so much that you want to take this great anxiety upon yourself, so that I can walk free in joy and praise confidently as your servant." (See John 3: 16-17 and Matthew 11: 28-30) In Christ's tender love, Pastor Louie
